My hospital visits last week had me not doing my 30 Day Shred workouts so I am starting over again. I am coupling my workouts with cardio every other day and am contemplating throwing in yoga or pilates in the morning and alternating them with my extra cardio days. It sounds like a lot to me but I really want to push myself as much as I can because I know that I can do it and I know that it will plenty of hard work to get where I want to be.

So yeah, today is Day 1 of 30DS. I might drop in on the pilates class at the gym on Wednesday and see how it goes. The only thing that I’m really having a tough time with is timing my lunch with my workout. I plan on doing cardio for about 30-45 minutes so that I have enough time to change and eat my lunch. Perhaps I should start packing a protein shake? I don’t want to have the same meals every day, though. I would like to be able to get as many nutrients as I can every day.

A friend of mine gave me the number of a personal trainer. I’ll be calling her tomorrow during my lunch and ask about rates and what not. I love C’s results and would like to see the same results in me as well. Maybe I need someone by my side to keep me going when I want to stop? I don’t think I’m that disciplined yet.

  • tea soothes your system

when infused, tea has very strong hydration benefits. whereas coffee dehydrates us, tea provokes the opposite effect (sometimes it can even help a morning hangover.) that said, the drink helps improve digestion, as well as vision. some research has shown that drinking tea can even lower the risks of cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

  • it’s good for your mind

need a little boost? forget coffee and energy drinks: a simple cup of tea can lift your spirits. this effect works in two ways: it fights fatigue, as well as awakens your body. and since it doesn’t increase your heart rate, tea (even when caffeinated) lets you de-stress and helps to get rid of agitation.

  • magical nutrients

one of the main benefits that tea offers your body is its abundance of antioxidants. tea contains polyphenols and flavonoids, which fight against free radicals and protect our cells from daily aggressions. the antioxidants contained in tea are very strong; up to four times the amount found in vitamin c (which is also contained in tea). vitamins b and e, as well as beta-carotene, can also be found in tea.

 did you know?

after water, tea (which comes in more than 3,000 varieties) is the second most-consumed beverage in the world. in regards to benefits, the less tea has been transformed, the richer it is. in order of excellence, they are as follows: white tea (the big winner by far), green tea, black tea, and then smoked and fermented varieties.

in regards to preparation, it is in the first three to five minutes of infusion that 85% of the tea’s antioxidants are released. it is also during this time that the tea releases its caffeine. so if you aren’t looking for that caffeinated boost, it is possible to decaffeinate your tea by simply throwing out the first batch of infused water after three minutes, and infuse the tea for a second time with more boiling water.

I went to the ER yesterday after I experienced abdominal pain.. again. The second time yesterday, actually. I had another attack earlier in the day and went to the walk-in clinic. The doctor there prescribed something for acid, but the ER doctor I saw later said something else.

I had waited for about five hours and am so thankful that I had my phone with me to keep me entertained. Writing e-mails, texting, playing games. I waited maybe 30 minutes to be admitted and another four and a half hours before being called in to see a doctor. There was another wait after that - maybe about half an hour? I was worried that perhaps I had been sitting in the wrong room.

Doc asked me a few questions: Was I nauseous? When did the pain start? How long did it last? He then had me lie down, poked my belly and had me breathe. This doc was a mumbler! But maybe he’d had a super long shift. I don’t know what life is like as an emergency doc. Anyhoo, he suggested that it might be a problem with my gallbladder and scheduled me for an ultrasound later on this afternoon.

I’m hoping it’s not bad, but from what I’ve read gallstones can only be removed through surgery. Blah. Blah to that! My immaculate, hospital-free track record! Not to mention my poor health. This is where I’m supposed to get all dramatic and say, “I’m too young to _____!”. I’m so hungry but I’m not allowed any food or drink until after my appointment. Le sigh.

My friend Michelle Yu went missing yesterday and hasn’t been seen for more than 24 hours. Her family, friends, and our entire school are incredibly worried about her. It is unlike her to go anywhere without telling her family and she has a heart condition which requires that she take daily medication. Here is the news report about her disappearance.
Please help by reblogging this and posting on Facebook if possible. Even if you don’t live in Toronto, you may have friends/followers who do.
We just want her home safely. Thank you.

So below are my before and after pictures. I’m not quite where I want to be yet, but I’m slowly working my way there. I cheated and did HCG to bring my weight down, but the rest of it will be due to dedication, hard work, clean eating, and a ton of sweat.

Forgive the messiness!

I started the 30 Day Shred yesterday. My starting weight is 130lbs and my goal weight is going to be 110lbs. If I can get through the 30 Day Shred, then I’m going to start P90x again. I feel like I need to prepare my body for that before I even start.
